FROM WHENCE WE CAME
Our Inspiration
T.A.R.O. (TEACHING, ADVOCATING, RESOURCES OUTREACH) was a thought for many years until early August 2024, out of the minds of two friends who wanted to express their love, gratitude, and appreciation for a friend who had passed from this earthly life. They also wanted to continue doing “the work” in the community, something the three of them enjoyed doing together, whether filling in or stepping up wherever they saw a need, even if it was “at a cost.”
Taro Knight (TKnight), Donald Parker (DP), and Melvin Muhammad (Bro Melvin), “The Three Amigos,” knew they could accomplish anything they set their mind to. The three of them carried their relationship very close,
Their Bond Was Unbreakable.
They knew the name and its meaning came from a Higher Power!
As DP and Bro. Melvin was tossing names around, they knew the name had to reflect Taro and what he stood for. They knew it had to mean something and carry weight, knowing that Taro meant so much to so many. So on that day, as they were tossing things around, they decided to use what was right in front of them: his name, and by the blessing of God, thus came T.A.R.O.
They knew the best way to “do right by” Taro was to do what he did daily and what he would do if he were still among us today: Help and Empower youths and communities.
There is more to share about their past works (the three of them), and as T.A.R.O. grows, you will hear more. But for now, we hope that this brief history of the development and beginning of T.A.R.O. will allow you to understand and see what T.A.R.O.'s mission and vision are and hopefully help you see and understand how you can support T.A.R.O.
